Salt for wounds

Our nation is mourning. After the tragedy in Connecticut on Friday I don't know any parent that didn't go home and hug their child a little tighter and be thankful. We are all saddened and want nothing more than to honor those who's lives have been cut far too short but in the midst of all that we have the media discussing the sick bastard who did this heinous crime. He's dead. We need not know anything more. You will never learn of a motive, in fact there isn't one because NOTHING justifies something so terrible. We keep sensationalizing the people who do these things. We make movies about them and write books about what they did and in the end that's what they want. They know that they did something absolutely horrible and don't care they did it and they will forever be remembered by the world and for them that's all that matters. We need to stop talking about the shooter and stop plastering his picture across media outlets and make every focus be about the innocent lives that were lost. This isn't about gun control or mental health, it's about a society who feeds into and lives off every word the media gives. The best thing we can do to prevent something like this from happening again is stop talking about the shooter. Stop giving him a name or a face. Make it about those who lost their lives.
I understand that law enforcement has to do their job and carry out an investigation but don't leak details to the media. We don't need to know where he bought the guns or the events that lead up to the massacre. Keep that information to yourself and stop sensationalizing. The fact is, we will never understand these types of tragedies but we can do our best to keep them from happening again.
I also learned this morning that the self-righteous ass holes from Westboro Baptist Church are planning to picket the funerals. Really? As if those parents haven't been through enough you have to add salt to the wound and say that this is Gods work carried out. Seriously?! You cold hearted fuckers. The last time I checked God didn't say to kill innocent people, especially children. These crazy psychos shoot schools and movie theaters and shopping malls, why not Westboro church? If anyone needs to leave this planet it's those heartless people.
